1962 P60 Kombi

We bought our Trabant P-50 Kombi in 2000 from a collector of east European cars who brought it over from a museum in Germany. Our mechanic (we have several cars) is a mechanic for a major airline and is of Czech descent and makes several trips to Czech Republic each year to visit relatives, so parts are never a problem (he formerly restored a Tatra and a Skoda).

Of all our antique cars the Trabi gets by far the most attention at cruise nights (with the hood open). It also has required the most repairs (clutch, transmission, brakes, mounts, generator). It currently runs fine and is an absolute pleasure to drive.

We believe this is the only example of this early model in the U.S. and we drive it to a lot of shows in season.
