I first learned about Trabants when I went to see U2 at Yankee Stadium in the early 1990s and they were being used as part of the show. I have had several old cars 1963 and 64 Chevy Novas, 1948 Oldsmobile 98, 1963 Rambler American. All of them needed restorations and I would start them and loose interest because the money to make them right I didn’t have. I wanted to get something really different that priced pretty well. I was looking at Crosleys but they have become a little expensive. When I saw this car I figured it fit the bill being fairly cheap and not needing a major amount of work.
